SDI Sponsors Character Summit

The second annual North Alabama Community of Character Summit was presented by The Character Foundation of North Alabama.

System Dynamics International Inc. (SDI) proudly served as a sponsor for the second annual North Alabama Community of Character Summit (NACCS) at Columbia High School, a half-day forum and awards ceremony presented by The Character Foundation of North Alabama (CFNA). The summit consisted of preceding visual art and literature competitions and an opening session with keynote speaker retired Navy Seal Jeffrey Still followed by family-friendly breakout sessions on character-related topics. The program was concluded with an awards ceremony for the student art and essay competitions.

The Character Foundation of North Alabama (CFNA) is sponsored by the Better Business Bureau of North Alabama and has a vision that “North Alabama will be a nationally recognized community of character.”  They believe “Our Character Matters” and that character is a crucial component of the community infrastructure. Improving the character for all the community is their goal. The CFNA invited students grades K-12 who live in Jackson, Limestone, Madison, Marshall and Morgan counties to submit art or essay projects for a chance to win medals, cash prizes or a $1,000 scholarship, based on grade level. Projects were based on one of four character words-- courage, fairness, generosity or perseverance.

SDI is dedicated to the future of all students and our community through a commitment to character and strong ethics. SDI’s President, Steve Smith, stated “I became aware of the Character Summit through the Huntsville/Madison County Leadership Program when my L-29 Small Group chose the 2016 Summit as our Group Project. I felt it was such a worthy cause that I decided to participate again this year. It was exciting to learn that the number of essays submitted this year doubled and we hope to see yet another increase next year.” To learn more about the CFNA and their programs, please visit
